This has enabled us to, over years, create a digital ecosystem that lets everyone, from small communities to large corporations, access the digital economy through the introduction of telecommunications products and services.
Our story
Huge NXTGN’s journey began in the hearts and minds of its founding members almost two decades ago, when the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) concept was first introduced to the African continent.
Throughout this journey, their ambition attracted like-minded individuals, leading to the creation of a team, brand and business still driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation and customer focus - a next-generation business for an ever-evolving world.
Over time, this grew into a collective desire to transform the digital enablement landscape with innovative, cost-effective technologies that deliver exceptional value and minimise risk like never before in the South African market.

Jason is an accomplished professional in the African telecommunications industry with 26 years’ experience across various organisations. Previously, he served as the CEO of MVNE Proprietary Limited in Johannesburg, where he helped enterprise clients develop and operate sophisticated MVNO initiatives across multiple African territories. Over the past 18 years, he has been instrumental in shaping the South African MVNO landscape.
Before joining MVNE, Jason held senior roles as Chief Strategy Officer for Allied Mobile Communications and was part of the leadership team that launched Virgin Mobile South Africa. He also spent significant time at Nashua Mobile, contributing to its growth through various mergers and acquisitions. Jason’s expertise includes advising enterprise clients on strategy, technology, operations, product innovation, and diversifying revenue and customer engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) from the University of South Africa.
Grant has over two decades’ experience in the telecommunications sector. Starting his career in 1998 at Altech, he has since held numerous senior positions, affording him the ability to work with leading organisations stretching from network operators to mobile network enablers. He has a demonstrable track record and significant expertise across various aspects of VNO commercial operations, including commercial management, product development, strategic planning and the go-to-market elements of VNO and micro-VNO initiatives.
Grant demonstrates keen insight into the competitive telecommunications landscape and a deep understanding of market dynamics. What sets him apart is his empathy, integrity and an ability to foster a culture of collaboration and inclusivity in multi-stakeholder engagements. Grant led the commercial portfolio of Virgin Mobile South Africa and has real-world, on-the-ground VNO experience that delivers predictable, accurate, and consistent results.
Dorena is a seasoned executive with 19 years’ experience in crafting exceptional customer journeys and driving operational excellence across diverse industries. Known for her dedication to customer satisfaction and innovation, she excels at aligning operational strategies with customer-centric models, ensuring consistently outstanding experiences. Dorena’s leadership approach seamlessly integrates the people, processes and systems within organisations, helping to promote world-class customer centricity. Dorena has a deep understanding of the operational standards essential for successful initiatives.
Dorena has held numerous senior leadership positions throughout her career, working with prominent brands such as Delta Airlines, British Gas, MTN, Huawei and Grubhub. She has played a pivotal role in enhancing performance across diverse markets, frequently leading multilingual and multicultural teams in various global locations. Most recently, Dorena oversaw the overall customer experience at Virgin Mobile South Africa, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all touchpoints.
Zak is an accomplished director, executive leader and strategist with extensive experience in telecommunications. Currently, he serves as Chief Operating Officer at Huge Group Limited and holds Non-Executive Director roles with Paratus Namibia Holdings and Paratus Telecommunications Namibia. He has held numerous senior executive positions in the telecoms sector, which has allowed him to serve as strategic advisor to the boards and executive teams of businesses ranging from startup initiatives to blue-chip enterprises, particularly in conceptualizing and implementing next-generation business strategies to ensure a defensive competitive position and long-term financial stability in the ever-changing converged services landscape. Most recently, Zak was appointed as the CEO of Virgin Mobile South Africa by its stakeholders and was instrumental in shepherding the embattled business through a process that ultimately led to its successful acquisition by Huge Group.
With senior roles across Africa’s telecommunications, retail and financial services sectors, Zak has built a strong track record in strategy, technology and digital transformation. He has advised executive teams of companies like Standard Bank, Capitec, Multichoice and MTN, focusing on competitive positioning and long-term stability. Zak holds a B.Com in Marketing from the University of Johannesburg and a Higher Diploma in Financial Planning from the University of the Free State.
Douglas Reed has cultivated a diverse and entrepreneurial career. After completing national service and university, he began his professional journey as a roustabout and roughneck on oil rigs in the North Sea. Upon returning to South Africa, he invested his savings into his family business, Sandton City Hardware, transforming it into a thriving enterprise by 1996.
In 1997, Douglas acquired a 30% stake in an IT services company, DataPro, which had a turnover of R150,000 at the time. Over the next decade, he successfully developed Vox Telecom, which became a listed entity with a market cap of R2.3 billion by 2007. As a respected figure in the South African telecommunications industry, Doug recently divested from various ventures to join Huge Group. He is now leading the company’s public relations and growth marketing initiatives, focusing on the launch of Huge NXTGN as part of Huge Group’s virtual network enablement strategy.
